Velvollisuus
Two brothers, two worlds and one fear: that life has no meaning.
Max is a 17-year-old from Kotka who did not get into the army. A year of drifting has led him to decide to go to Ukraine as a volunteer fighter. His older brother Robert is a 22-year-old ballet dancer who is about to get a contract with the Finnish National Opera and is hiding a hip fracture.
The film is about the search for meaning, the silence within a family and who a person owes their duty to: the country, their brother or themselves. In it, the discipline of a soldier and the discipline of ballet are two different uses of the same body.
The film does not resolve the moral question but shows different answers to the same question.
